Alice Springs, Jim McConville Oval

Opened in November 2023, the Gap View Street Workout in Alice Springs is a nimble 63m² outdoor fitness station, purpose-built to serve the local community at Jim McConville Oval, adjacent to Centralian Middle School. Funded by the Community Benefit Fund and supported by local partners, the project was delivered following a change in leadership at Alice Springs Town Council, which swiftly identified a highly visible, accessible location alongside a cricket pitch, AFL oval, and a well-used walking track.

Though compact, the station features a versatile range of equipment, including an extra-long chin-up bar suitable for advanced bodyweight training, a multibar for chest-focused exercises, a dual dip bar station, wing overhang for reach and agility, and an ab bench for core strengthening. The facility is now used regularly by local students before school, sporting clubs, and fitness enthusiasts of all levels. This long-awaited community asset encourages physical activity, combats sedentary lifestyles, and supports positive mental health through free, inclusive access to exercise.
